A man claimed he heard a gunshot and came out of his room to find a woman dead. But now police say he was the killer.
On Aug. 26, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the arrest of 41-year-old William Chambless. He was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the killing of Ashley Perala.
Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 23, deputies responded to a home for a reported shooting.
When deputies arrived, they found Perala dead in the home. Chambless told them he was in another room and heard voices and a gunshot.
When he came out, he found the victim, Chambless claimed, according to the sheriff’s office.
However, investigators found evidence that disproved his story, and a gun was found where police first saw Chambless.
