A pair of Florida sisters were found dead about eight hours apart in the same canal and police say their mother has been arrested for their murders.
On June 22, police said they found 9-year-old Destiny Hogan and 7-year-old Daysha Hogan about eight hours apart while searching a canal.
While searching for evidence along the canal on June 22, officials said they “encountered” their mother, Tinessa Hogan, 36, and she has been hospitalized ever since.
The Miami Herald spoke with residents of the area and they said Hogan carried a Bible and one neighbor saw Hogan swimming in the canal, which is when Hogan asked the neighbor if she wanted her kids baptized.
The neighbor did not accept that offer and instead, brought her kids inside, officials said.
On July 13, Lauderhill police said they arrested Hogan on first-degree murder charges, exactly three weeks after the bodies of her daughters were found.
Police have not said what led them to make the arrest or how the children died.
Authorities said this is still an open investigation.
