A man is accused of shooting and killing his stepson during an argument, police said.
Last week, police in Cape Coral in Florida arrested Gabriel Fernandez on a homicide charge.
Around 11 p.m. on Sept. 7, police responded to a shooting in progress. The caller said a person told them to call 911 and that a stepfather had shot his stepson.
When police arrived, they found Fernandez in a driveway. He was on the phone with 911 and said he had shot his stepson, Brain McKellop Jr.
Police found McKellop in the hallway of a home and tried to provide aid, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead and had multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and back.
Witness said Fernandez was intoxicated and got mad that McKellop tried to get in the middle of a family argument, police said. Fernandez then grabbed his gun and shot the victim in the chest and the back as he tried to flee.
Authorities said Fernandez admitted to shooting McKellop.
