The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office charged James Brand, 50, and Amy O’Reilly-Brand, 45, both of Viera, with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Their arrests were announced this week.

Police started their investigation after a complaint alleged the two parents allowed their underage daughter to have sex with an adult.

The investigation determined the Brands allowed a man to move into the home and have an ongoing relationship with their daughter, according to the Brevard County Sheriff. The two also used marijuana with students at their home on several occasions.

The students attended the high school where the two parents worked, the Brevard County Sheriff noted.

There was no evidence that any criminal activity took place on school grounds. The announcement did not detail what subjects Brand and O’Reilly-Brand taught.

Both adults were arrested and booked into Brevard County jail. Bond was set at $12,500 for each.
