A Florida woman was allegedly found to be hiding a large stash of drugs inside her body while she was being booked into jail on drug charges, according to authorities.
Around 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 11, deputies pulled over a car in Marathon and officers could smell a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Recreational marijuana use is illegal in the state of Florida.
Officials searched the car and found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, so 41-year-old Angeline Oramas and the driver of the car, 37-year-old Aaron Neurath, were both arrested on drug possession charges.
While Oramas was being booked into jail, a “body scan and search” was conducted at a medical center, which revealed the woman was allegedly hiding more drugs inside her body, authorities said.
Officials did not reveal where or how she hid the drugs.
According to authorities, they found 7 grams of fentanyl, almost 13 grams of crack cocaine and almost 2 grams of powder cocaine inside Oramas.

Because of this discovery, Oramas was charged with additional crimes, including possession of fentanyl and crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, having controlled substances without a prescription, having drug paraphernalia and smuggling contraband into a jail facility, officials said.
In a statement, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said this case shows the “importance of the advanced body-scan technology we use to keep illegal drugs and weapons out of our detention facilities.”
