Fugitive wanted for murder in Texas may be with his girlfriend who was reported missing in Oklahoma, police say
A fugitive accused of murdering a man in Texas three years ago is now also wanted for questioning in connection to the disappearance of his girlfriend in Oklahoma.
Authorities believe Francisco Jabier Velasquez, 36, may be with his girlfriend, 29-year-old Tallen Shyann Treto-Padilla, who was reported missing in Wayne, Oklahoma, on Nov. 5, according to the McClain County Sheriff’s Office
Treto-Padilla was last seen leaving her job in a white 2009 GMC Acadia, and she could have gone to the United States-Mexico border in Texas, the sheriff’s office said.
In November 2018, Carlos Valdez allegedly approached Velasquez at the Mexican restaurant Taqueria La Estrella Jalisco in San Antonio, Texas, and punched him in the face, KSAT reported, citing an arrest affidavit. Velasquez allegedly responded by fatally shooting Valdez in the torso.
According to police, Valasquez was at the restaurant with his then-girlfriend — Valdez’s ex-common-law wife — at the time of the incident.
Velasquez was charged with murder and there is a warrant out for his arrest.
Treto-Padilla is described as standing 5-feet-1-inch, weighing 135 pounds and having brown hair and brown eyes. Velasquez has black hair and brown eyes. He is 6-feet tall and weighs around 230 pounds. He may be going by the name Mike “Paco” Mendoza.
