Alabama Man Fatally Shot Teenager Inside Gas Station After Verbal Dispute Turned Physical, Police Say
The main suspect in the killing of a female teenager at an Alabama gas station is behind bars, authorities said.
Skylar Jacquel Dorse, 24, was being held without bond in connection to the Aug. 3 shooting death of 19-year-old Sophia Nicole Zeigler, WVTM reported.
According to police, Zeigler was at a Marathon gas station in Hoover when Dorse followed her inside and the two got into a verbal argument shortly before 8:30 p.m.
Witnesses claimed the dispute turned physical and Dorse shot Zeigler inside the gas station before fleeing in a gold sedan, police said.
Zeigler was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation determined the suspect and victim were acquaintances.
Five days after the deadly incident, around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 8, law enforcement apprehended Dorse at a home in Birmingham. He faces a charge of capital murder and was being held without bond.
