A Georgia baby was taken to the hospital with internal injuries after the man watching her assaulted her, police said.
Around 10 p.m. Aug. 30, the Valdosta Police Department in Georgia responded to a call at South Georgia Medical Center where a 1-year-old was brought into the emergency room for serious internal injuries.
On that day, officials said Alexander Mills Culbreth, 23, was watching the child at a home in Valdosta.
When the mother got home from work, she noticed something was wrong and took the child to the hospital, authorities said.
Tests were done at the hospital and the results showed the baby had fractures to the skull and internal injuries, which were consistent with an assault, police said.
Officials said the baby was airlifted to a hospital in Florida and remains there in serious condition.
Culbreth was charged with aggravated child molestation and aggravated battery and is booked into the Lowndes County Jail, authorities said.
Police said more charges are expected.
