Georgia Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing 80-Year-Old North Carolina Woman Before Turning Knife On Caretaker
A Georgia man is accused of killing an elderly woman and critically injuring her caregiver in North Carolina.
Robert Reid faces with multiple charges in the case, including first-degree murder, first-degree forcible rape, attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of first-degree kidnapping, WITN reported.
According to sheriff’s deputies in Bertie County, on Feb. 20, Reid allegedly fatally stabbed Lan Rawls, 80, at her Aulander home. He's accused of then stabbing the victim’s 62-year-old caretaker, Rochelle Harrell, but she survived her injuries.
Deputies launched an extensive investigation and identified Reid as a suspect in the case. He is expected to be transferred to North Carolina from Georgia.
