Georgia Teacher Accused of Murder After 2-Year-Old Suffers Lacerated Liver in Alleged Beating: Cops
Nov. 10 2023, Published 10:02 a.m. ET
A teacher in Georgia has been arrested in connection with the 2020 beating death of a two-year-old, according to authorities.
On Nov. 3, Kianna Davis, 32, was arrested and charged with one count of malice murder, two counts of felony murder and one count each of first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated assault, second-degree murder and cruelty to children in connection with the 2020 death of Karter Ambrose, WXIA-TV reported.
Between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17, 2020, Davis and Kiyon Benton, 32, are accused of beating the child with an unidentified object, which resulted in the child suffering a lacerated liver.
According to the indictment, which was issued on Oct. 17, Davis and Benton failed to “seek immediate medical attention” after the child was injured, WXIA-TV reported.
While the pair were indicted in mid-October, it is unclear why Davis wasn’t arrested until now.
No details were released regarding the relationship of Davis and Benton to the child.

Officials said the case is still active and Benton has not been arrested yet.
Davis has been a teacher at Seckinger High School in Buford. Principal Jimmy Fisher said “we were alerted that one of our teachers was arrested over the weekend” and they “will not be permitted on campus while the situation remains unresolved,” WXIA reported.
