Margaret Gissome allegedly repeatedly hit the child over mistakes she made while doing homework, officials said.

A woman in Florida has been arrested after she allegedly grabbed a girl by the collar and began punching her because she was making mistakes on her homework, according to authorities.

On Sept. 10, Margaret Gissome, 35, “became upset because [the child was doing her homework wrong” after school so she allegedly repeatedly struck the victim, according to court documents obtained by WFLA.

The age of the girl was not specified in the allegations.

According to the affidavit, Gissome “grabbed [victim] by her collar and started punching [victim] in her face" with a "closed fist."

Officials said the victim suffered a “busted blood vessel in her left eye” and had a “bruise on her lower left lip.”

The child spoke with police and claimed Gissome hits her “a lot.”

Gissome was arrested and charged with felony child abuse, according to police.

She was booked into jail and has been released from custody after posting a $2,500 bond.

Authorities did not release the nature of the relationship between Gissome and the child.
