Arizona Man Accused of Murder After Girlfriend Jumps from Moving Car and Dies During Police Chase
An Arizona woman is dead after leaping from a moving vehicle driven by her allegedly intoxicated boyfriend during a police chase, officials said.
The Pima County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded on July 20, to a domestic violence call from the woman, who was not immediately identified.
She reported her boyfriend had taken an illegal drug before driving her up Mount Lemmon, in the Santa Catalina Mountains, and refused to let her out.
When deputies caught up to the suspect, identified as 36-year-old William Holloway, he allegedly ignored commands to pull over, prompting a chase.
The woman jumped out of the car while it was moving, and was critically injured.
Some deputies stopped to assist her, while others continued chasing Holloway, who did not stop. The woman died of her injuries at a nearby hospital.
The chase finally ended when deputies found Holloway with a blown tire.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and trafficking stolen property. He was being held in jail on a $750,000 bond.
