Texas Grandmother Found Shot Dead In Middle Of Road After ‘Random Act Of Violence,’ Police Say
A Texas man is accused of killing a grandmother in what authorities believe may have been an unprovoked act of violence.
On Aug. 13, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Anthony Gilbreath, 26, and charged him with the murder of 70-year-old Diana Lynn Pier.
Around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 4, deputies responding to a call about a shooting found Pier lying dead in the middle of a road outside Florence.
According to officials, Pier, a library volunteer, had been visiting family and was returning home when she was murdered after possibly stopping her vehicle to help someone, KXAN reported.
“We believe this was an unprovoked random act of violence,” Commander John Foster said.
Gilbreath was being held on a $1 million bond.
“I know she impacted a lot of lives, a lot of young lives, a lot of parents, it’s really, it has hit the town hard,” the victim’s co-worker, Alec Moonstone, told KTBC.
