A grand jury in Tennessee has indicted the grandparents of a 3-year-old boy who died late last year, according to authorities.
According to court documents obtained by WKRN, Carson Brasher was found dead on Dec. 26, 2023, in Hardin County.
Now Jeff and Amy Brasher, the child’s legal grandparents, have been arrested, according to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
Amy Brasher was indicted on charges of first degree murder, child abuse and neglect. Meanwhile, Jeff Brasher was charged with child abuse and neglect.
Authorities said the grandparents were given custody of Carson in October 2023 while his mother, Kimberly Jones, was in rehab.
Jones told WKRN, “He was happy; he was outgoing; he was joyful; he was bright; he was rambunctious. He was just waiting for me to come home.”
While Carson was found unresponsive on the day after Christmas, Jones said she was told her son slipped in the bathtub and hit his head.
However, court documents allege Amy Brasher abused the boy and intentionally killed him and Jeff Brasher did nothing to protect him.
Authorities did not release a motive in the killing.
