He told others that he wanted to kill his grandparents. Police said in Florida say he did just that.

A man commented to his friends that he wanted to kill his grandparents. When officers arrived at his house on Feb. 26, they said he carried it out.

Ricky Harrell, 32, is accused of killing his grandfather Peter Matusiak, 75, on Feb. 25 In Glades County, Florida, according to the sheriff’s office.

Members of the Glades County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home around 1 a.m. for a reported shooting. When deputies arrived, they saw Harrell standing outside with his hands up.

He reportedly said, “the gun is inside and no one else is here,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Police went inside and found Matusiak dead from a gunshot wound. There were two shotguns on the ground near his body, the sheriff’s office stated.

Investigators said Matusiak was intoxicated and got into an argument with Harrell. Harrell told deputies that during the argument, Matusiak grabbed a gun and he wrestled it away. Matusiak then dove at him, and Harrell fired.

Harrell said they then called 911, according to the sheriff’s office.

But police also learned that Harrell told several of his friends that he wanted to kill his grandparents.

Deputies charged Harrel with first-degree murder. He was booked into jail and is being held without bond.
