A man was shot and killed by witnesses after he attacked other people with a knife at a gathering, Delaware State Police say.
Police arrived at a Hartly, Delaware, home around 4:30 a.m. on May 26 after a report of a person shot and multiple stabbing victims, according to state police.
Police stated several people were “watching tv and playing games through the night” at the time of the stabbing.
A Maryland man “became enraged and began attacking the other occupants with a knife,” police stated in their release. They did not release that man's name.
One of the stabbing victims got a shotgun and shot the 37-year-old Maryland man in the leg. The 37-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Two of the stabbing victims were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The other two victims were treated for non-life-threatening wounds, according to state police.
It is unclear whether there will be any charges in connection to the incident, but police say that the investigation is “very active,” according to Delaware Online.
