Las Vegas Brothers Allegedly Fatally Head-Stomped Man After His Mother Got Black Eye, Cops Say
A pair of brothers in Las Vegas are both under arrest in connection with the violent stomping death of a man in December, authorities said.
Daniel Deeg, 42, and Adam Deeg, 37, each are charged with open murder, while the older sibling also faces charges of conspiracy to commit theft, and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, show police documents obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
According to the publication, on Dec. 26, Eugene Grinnell, 40,was unconscious when he was found beaten outside a home, the police report states.
Grinnell was transported to University Medical Center, where he was treated for two days but died from his injuries.
Arrest reports state witnesses said Daniel and Adam Deeg and four other individuals allegedly got into an altercation with Grinnell after his mother suffered a black eye while in a fight he tried to break up.
During the alleged dispute following the incident, Grinnell’s mother and other witnesses allegedly saw the victim get his head stomped, the reports state.
The brothers, who were staying at a Las Vegas-area transitional home for men, according to police, were arrested on suspicion of murder after the hospital notified authorities that Grinnell died on Dec. 28.
An autopsy later determined his manner of death was homicide caused by blunt-force trauma to the head.
Daniel Deeg is next due in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 6, while his brother, Adam Deeg, is scheduled to appear before a judge three days later, on Feb. 9.
