California Woman Suspected Of Attempting To Pay Hit Woman $30,000 To Kill Estranged Wife, Police Say
A contentious divorce battle in California led to the recent arrest of a woman who police believe attempted to hire a hit woman to kill her estranged wife, according to authorities.
The Mercury News reported the 54-year-old woman in Bethel Island was frustrated about her ongoing divorce case and allegedly decided to attempt to hire the contract killer to run over her spouse.
Police said the woman attempted to pay the purported hit woman $30,000 to execute the scheme to steal a vehicle and then use it to hit her ex as she walked home after leaving a local bar.
The woman allegedly wanted the hit-and-run crash to appear to be an accident, according to police.
She was arrested on Jan. 11 on suspicion of murder solicitation and was being held in the Contra Costa jail on $1 million bail, The Mercury News reported, citing records.
The woman accused of the alleged plot reportedly wrote on social media that she is a self-professed “animal lover” who is “following Jesus.”
The investigation is ongoing, and charges in the case were still pending.
