‘I’m Going To Have To Shoot You’: Florida Man Accused Of Firing Gun At Neighbor Making Too Much Noise
A home renovation project led to a Florida man who was fed up with the noise allegedly shooting at his neighbor, authorities said.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an apartment complex in Naples after receiving a report about a man who was possibly drunk and fired a gun at another person.
At the scene, deputies arrested David Black, 55, and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and firing a gun in public, WINK-TV reported.
According to deputies, Black exited his apartment and spotted a neighbor and asked if he was responsible for making noise.
The neighbor later told deputies that when he told Black he had been redoing his floors, the suspect allegedly responded, “Well then, I’m going to have to shoot you.”
The neighbor claimed Black, who was armed with a gun, fired a shot in his direction, deputies said.
The neighbor said he then ran away while yelling for Black to put away his gun.
According to deputies, Black allegedly admitted to pointing his weapon at the neighbor but claimed he shot into the ground when he saw the man was scared.
Deputies said they recovered a handgun near the door of Black’s apartment as well as 16 additional handguns and three rifles inside the residence.
Two field breathalyzer tests allegedly showed Black’s alcohol levels were at 0.280 and 0.293, more than three times the legal driving limit, according to authorities.
