Atlanta Man Accused Of Murder After Killing Stranger He Found Sleeping In His Home
A man was arrested for murder after he killed a stranger who he discovered sleeping in a bed inside his Atlanta home.
Joshua Warren, 40, faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the fatal shooting of the man who was between 25 and 30 years old, WXIA-TV reported.
According to police, shortly after 6 a.m. on Nov. 26, officers responding to a report of someone shot discovered a man dead in the front yard of Warren’s home.
Maj. Peter Malecki with Atlanta Police Department said an initial investigation indicated Wilson had come to the vacant residence to check on it and discovered the man, whose identity police have not disclosed, asleep inside.
Malecki said there was a “confrontation.”
According to WSB-TV, police indicated the man was shot while attempting to flee the home.
An investigation determined the victim was not an immediate danger to Wilson and detectives concluded the shooting did not fall under Georgia’s stand-your-ground laws.
Warren was booked into the DeKalb County jail.
