Authorities are investigating a homicide after new homeowners in Colorado found a human head and human hands in a deep freezer in the garage, officials said.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious incident in Grand Junction, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
KREX reported that the new homeowners were cleaning out the house they just bought when the remains were found.
According to a neighbor, the new homeowners posted on social media stating they had “free stuff” that had been left in the home available for people to pick up, KREX reported.
The new homeowners were reportedly cleaning out a deep freezer in the garage when they found human remains in a black bag underneath frozen animal meat, authorities said.
The medical examiner conducted an autopsy on the human remains and confirmed that a human head and human hands were found in the freezer, officials said.
