Man hit woman with his car, then beat her with metal object, witnesses said. Then he allegedly confessed to the crime.
A 26-year-old man hit a woman with his car and then beat her with a metal object, killing the victim, police said.
The attack happened around 2 a.m. on Feb. 24, according to Houston police.
Officers responded to Bissonnet Street for a reported crash. When they arrived, officers saw Chiedozie Amadi, 22, standing over the victim Jasmine James, 26, according to Houston police.
Paramedics took James to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told officers that Amandi appeared to hit James with her car as she was walking on the sidewalk, according to police. He then hit her in the head with a metal object.
Officers spoke to Amadi, who admitted to the crime and was arrested, police said. He was charged with murder.
Investigators have not said if the victim and suspect knew each other before the incident.
