A missing woman was found dead in a ditch in 2019. Now, more than three years later, police said they made an arrest in the case.
Last week, Houston police said Carl Franklin Tates, 61, was arrested in connection to the killing of Demetris Lincoln, 44.
Lincoln was last seen by her family on Aug. 16, 2019, and a missing person report was filed on Aug. 22, police said. A few days later, she was found dead in a ditch in Louisiana.
Investigators determined the incident started in Louisiana.
Tates, her ex-boyfriend, was identified as a possible suspect in the case. Police investigated and this month charged him with murder. He was arrested in Mississippi.
A motive has not been released in the case.
