A man in Houston cashed a large check and posted about it on social media. Now, police said a teenager has been arrested in connection with that man’s murder.
On Sept. 23, Kwana Bunkley cashed a $7,000 settlement check from a previous accident and posted a video of the money on Instagram, KPRC reported.
Officials said Bunkley and his girlfriend gave a ride to 17-year-old Cory Alan James that same day, KTRK-TV reported.
According to authorities, during the ride, James allegedly demanded money from Bunkley and his girlfriend and reportedly took things from them. He then, police said, shot the victim.
James also allegedly kidnapped the girlfriend, KTRK-TV reported.
Brandi Telfor, Bunkley’s mother, told KPRC that the accused shooter "told the girlfriend that he would kill her if she didn’t take him where he needed to go.”
The family doesn’t believe she had anything to do with the deadly shooting, but Telfor did say she thinks “it’s a setup.”
