Houston man shot two construction workers at a convenience store, killing one, cops say

A man has been arrested after he shot two construction workers, killing one and injuring another, during an attempted robbery on Dec. 12.
After releasing a surveillance photo of the suspect, police arrested Jovanny Villegas, 20, and charged him with capital murder, ABC 13 reported.
According to Houston police, two men were sitting in a truck at a convenience store on Telephone Road at around 6:20 a.m., getting ready to leave for work, according to ABC 13.
Villegas allegedly approached the truck and demanded money, ABC 13 reported. When the two victims couldn’t produce the money fast enough, Villegas reportedly shot them both, according to ABC 13.
Mutalib Karim, 76, who was driving the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, ABC 13 reported.
Olvin Canales, 44, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with a gunshot wound, according to ABC 13. His condition is unknown.
According to police, after Villegas was detained, he admitted to investigators that he was involved in the shooting, ABC 13 reported.
