Weeks after a man was murdered and a woman was injured during a shooting at an apartment complex, police said they arrested the killer.
Around 3:45 p.m. on June 30, Houston police responded to an apartment complex on Buffalo Speedway for a reported shooting.
There, officers found Blake Davenport, 25, dead in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. There was also a woman who was injured. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said Davenport confronted a man who he thought broke into his vehicle.
That started an argument and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim, police said. The woman fired her own gun at the suspect, and he shot back, hitting her in the leg.
Police identified Jerel R. Banks, 21, as the suspect and he was arrested earlier in the month.
Banks was free on bond for unrelated felony charges at the time of the shooting, police said.
