A woman was found lying on the ground outside a home with gunshot wounds as her husband was dead inside in what police in Louisiana are describing as a murder-suicide.
On Oct. 22, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call of a shooting in Hammond, Louisiana.
At the scene, authorities said police found a woman lying outside of the home suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was later identified as 34-year-old Heidi Davis and she was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, police said.
Deputies determined the suspect was the victim’s husband, 38-year-old Anthony Davis.
Officers said he barricaded himself inside the home and the sheriff's office Special Response Team was notified and responded to the home.
Authorities said they made several attempts to contact Anthony Davis but were not successful. That is when officials entered the house and found Anthony dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said the incident is still under investigation. Deputies have not said what they believed led to the incident.
