Illinois Parents Charged With Fracturing Skull And Murdering Baby

Two young parents in southern Illinois are charged with murdering their three-month-old baby boy by fracturing his skull and ribs.

Illinois State Police recently announced the arrests of Logan Hutchings and Sophia Kelly, both 21.

The baby’s injuries were reported last June in Pinckneyville. The boy was rushed to a St. Louis hospital, where he died two days later.

Hutchings and Kelly were the last adults to take care of the baby, authorities say.

Both are held on three counts of first-degree murder, with a $1 million bond. The Southern Illinoisian reports each of them could spend at least 20 years in prison if convicted.
