29-year-old man gunned down at Illinois apartment, woman accused of murder
A woman is accused of gunning down a man at an Illinois apartment complex.
Claudia Resensiz-Florez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting, according to Rolling Meadows police.
On Oct. 14, officers responded to The Preserve at Woodfield apartment complex for a report of a gunshot victim.
Once police arrived, they found James P. Jones, 29, had been shot in the chest, according to Rolling Meadows police. He was later pronounced dead from his wounds.
Investigators identified Resensiz-Florez as the shooter and she was taken into custody. Police did not detail why they believed she was the shooter, her relationship to the victim or a possible motive in the case.
A witness cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Officers said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
