A man is accused of beating his mother to death and murdering the family dog, then trying to kill himself.
Last week, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois announced the arrest of Cody R. Sales, 26, in connection to the death of his mother Nancy E. Sales, 62.
Around 6:15 p.m. on June 25, deputies responded to a home in Plattville, Illinois, for a welfare check. When deputies arrived, they found Cody Sales in the home with multiple injuries. Those wounds were believed to be self-inflicted.
Authorities then found the bodies of Nancy Sales and a dog, both of who were dead, inside the home.
Cody Sales was taken to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
An autopsy determined that Nancy Sales’ cause of death was the result of blunt force injuries and it was classified as a homicide, according to the sheriff’s office. Though, investigators have not released a motive in the case.
On June 28, Cody Sales was released from the hospital and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated animal cruelty.
