A woman is accused of leaving four kids alone in a home while she went shopping an hour away, according to a report.
This week, Courtny Prater, 25, was arrested in connection to the incident.
The situation started on Aug. 2 at a mobile home in Kokomo, Indiana, to check on the people inside, according to Fox 59. When officers arrived, they determined four kids — all under 9 years old — were in the home.
The mom of two of the kids was outside and spoke to police, the report noted.
The woman said her father checked on the kid and found one of them answering the door, according to FOX59. The child said his mom and dad were in Indianapolis shopping.
Police knocked on the door and heard and saw two aggressive dogs inside, the report noted.

The woman of two of the kids then called the other children’s mom, Prater, and she returned home.
Prater told police she went shopping and said two people she was with were supposed to be watching the kids, according to FOX59.
Police went into the home and found trash on the floor and it smelled of urine. Prater said a man who lived nearby was supposed to check on the children.
Authorities charged Prater with two counts of child neglect.
