A woman in Indiana has been arrested after she allegedly shot her daughter during a verbal dispute, according to authorities.
Just before midnight on Dec. 10, officers responded to a home in South Bend after a 911 caller said that his mother had shot his sister, according to court documents obtained by WNDU.
At the scene, officers approached 68-year-old Shirley Lee inside the house, where she told officers that her daughter, 52-year-old Zawondra Lee, was dead, officials said.
Deputies searched the home and found Zawondra’s body, which was lying near a silver revolver, authorities said.
Officers spoke with Shirley, who reportedly said, “I did that to my child” and “I told her to stop talking, but she would not stop talking,” authorities said.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred after a verbal altercation broke out between Shirley and Zawondra. Shirley told officers that Zawondra had been living with her for three months prior to the shooting.

Police said the mother and daughter were arguing when Shirley went to her bedroom and shut the door in Zawondra’s face twice. Shirley then opened the door a third time when she thought her daughter had nothing left to say.
Deputies said Shirley then became angry, grabbed her handgun and shot Zawondra.
