Man found dead in Indianapolis house fire, woman accused of murder
A woman has been charged in connection to the murder of a man who was found in a home set ablaze, police said.
This month, Indianapolis Metropolitan police charged Brittany Snelbaker, 27, in connection to the case, though the Marion County Prosecutors Office in Indiana will decide the exact charges. She was booked into jail on charges of murder, arson and arson resulting in serious bodily injury.
On Nov. 5, firefighters responded to a home fire on East Vermont Street. There, they found a man who was dead in the residence.
The victim was identified as Charles Brugess Jr., according to Indianapolis Metropolitan police.
Police said there were “suspicious circumstances” in his death, which was classified as a homicide. Investigators identified Snelbaker as the suspect and arrested her during a traffic stop.
Officials did not detail if Snelbaker knew the victim or a possible motive in the killing.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Indianapolis police at (317) 327-3475.
