Louisiana Couple Arrested After 1-Year-Old Girl Found Dead, Officials Say
A man and woman in Louisiana are accused of murder after the woman’s 1-year-old daughter died from what authorities said were injuries to the infant’s head and body.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff, Renard Robinson and Keaura Dillon, both 23, were arrested on Dec. 12. Robinson faces a charge of second-degree murder and was being held on $300,000 bond, while Dillon was booked with accessory after fact to second-degree murder and ordered held on $190,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a report of a child not breathing at a LaPlace home around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 11.
“Upon arrival, officers located a 1-year-old female unresponsive in a bed,” the sheriff’s office said. “Shortly after, emergency medical services detected no vital signs.”
The coroner pronounced the baby girl dead at the scene.
“Officers and medical personnel observed bruising to her face and other parts of the body,” the sheriff’s office said, noting an autopsy also showed the baby had several severe injuries.
The autopsy determined the death was homicide caused by blunt force trauma.
According to the sheriff’s office, “During an interview with detectives, Robinson admitted to harming the infant that caused her to lose consciousness, leading to her death.”
The accused allegedly also told detectives that he had informed the baby’s mother, Dillon, what happened to her daughter prior to the pair speaking with detectives, the sheriff’s office claimed.
