Man Accused Of Murder Nearly Two Weeks After Woman Found Shot Dead Beside Car On Interstate, Sheriff Says
A man is under arrest in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found along Interstate 95 in Florida, authorities said.
Just after midnight on Dec. 1, a Florida Department of Transportation ranger discovered the body of the woman, whose name is being withheld, next to her vehicle in Broward County, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into the victim’s death and identified Christopher Patterson Jr., 36, of Pembroke Pines, as a suspect in the case.
According to a Dec. 6 arrest warrant obtained by the Sun Sentinel, Patterson allegedly shot the woman “with a premeditated intent.”
A motive has not been released in the case.
The sheriff’s office said Patterson was taken into custody in Georgia on Dec. 13, and he was expected to be extradited to Broward County and charged with one count of first-degree murder.
