Woman Beaten To Death With Wooden Board, Left In Bathroom With Blood Splatter On Walls: Report

A man beat a woman to death with a wooden board and now faces a murder charge, according to a report.

Around 6 p.m. on April 2, police arrived at a home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a reported overdose, according to Iowa News Now.

Officers said Arthur Flowers, 62, tried to leave the home but ended up leading police to a bathroom in the residence. There, they found the victim Emily Elizabeth Leonard on the floor with a head injury and blood spatter throughout the room, according to the report.

Her pants were pulled down and her shirt was pulled up, the station noted.

Investigators also said it appeared her body had been moved to the bathroom, according to Iowa News Now.

Police also found a board with blood spatter on it, and it appeared the weapon was used in the attack, according to the report.

Flowers spoke to police and said he was alone with Leonard and he knew her for years. He also appeared to have blood on hands and said he was wearing the victim’s pants, according to the report.

Police charged Flowers with first-degree murder and he was booked into jail.
