Tipster Leads Police To Dead Body In Kansas, Suspect Now Accused Of Murder
A tip to police told them where they could find a dead body, and now a suspect in the killing is behind bars.
On May 16, police in Kansas City, Missouri, got a tip that a dead body could be found at a home in Coffeyville, Kansas. The Kansas City Police Department told their counterparts in Coffeyville about the tip.
Officers went to the home and saw David A. Jackson exit the duplex, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Police spoke to Jackson briefly and then went into the home, investigators said. Inside, they found 47-year-old Melvin Simpson Jr. dead from a gunshot.
Jackson was detained at that time on unrelated charges, and this week he was charged with first-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, felony obstruction of justice and unlawful discharge of a weapon.
Investigators have not released a motive for the alleged murder.
