Kentucky motel worker beaten to death after speaking with guest, police say. Guest arrested on murder charge.
A Kentucky man is accused of murder for beating a motel worker to death, police said.
Around 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 6, police in Paducah, Kentucky, were called to the Deluxe Inn for an assault. Employee Timmy L. Burton, 60, was assaulted by a guest — later identified as George E. Brown, 34 — and found in the hallway, according to police.
Burton had multiple head injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Investigators learned that Burton went to a room occupied by Brown to speak with him, according to Paducah police. It was then Brown allegedly assaulted Burton.
The suspect fled after the attack but was later found and arrested by police.
Brown was charged with first-degree assault that night. On Jan. 11, Burton died from his injuries and the charges against Brown were upgraded to murder.
Brown Is being held in McCracken County Regional Jail.
