Police in Kentucky climbed a ladder to free a woman who had been chained to the floor after neighbors called 911 when they heard her screaming for help, video shows.
On Aug. 16, officers arrived at the home and found the windows and doors on the first floor of the home were barricaded, according to body camera footage released by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
After borrowing a ladder from one of the neighbors, police climbed up to the second floor to a window that was smashed out and found a woman sobbing with a chain around her neck. The chain was bolted to the floor.
Officers used a hatchet to break the restraints from the floor and brought the woman downstairs. Firefighters then removed the chain from her neck using bolt cutters.
On Aug. 18, Moises May, 36, was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of the woman, later identified as Jonna Wilson, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Court documents state that May and Wilson were arguing several days earlier when May reportedly grabbed Wilson, held her to the bathroom floor and then “used a machete to cut off a majority of her hair.”

May then allegedly “slapped the victim around” before Wilson was able to flee the home, the Courier-Journal reported.
Wilson returned to the house later on to grab some of her belongings, which is when May reportedly threatened to kill her.
He's accused of then wrapping the chain around her neck, attaching it to the floor, and taking her cell phone so she couldn’t call for help, the Courier-Journal reported.
According to WAVE, May reportedly told Wilson, “You’re gonna get it tonight,” before he left with her phone as well as the key to the lock on the chain. The station reported he allegedly added, “I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you.”
