A man allegedly robbed and killed a 71-year-old woman in her home this week, police said.
The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office received a call claiming Harold F. Jett, 48, of Taylorville, Illinois, fired a gun on a vehicle on South Road in Cadiz, Kentucky, according to WPSD.
Police tried to stop Jett in a vehicle, but he allegedly fled from officers.
Law enforcement pursued Jett to Hilltop Street, where he got out of the car and went into a home, cops say. Police say Jett left the home a short time later, and he was taken into custody, according to the report.
Inside the home, authorities found Mary V. Dullenty, 71, who was hurt. Investigators have not said how Dullenty was injured.
Dullenty was taken to Trigg County Hospital, where she later died, WPSD reported.
Jett has been charged with murder and second-degree burglary, as well as additional offenses stemming from the police chase.
