A Kentucky woman walked over to her neighbor’s house and shot her directly in the head, execution style, police said.
On Aug. 23, police say 43-year-old Kamecka Russell went to her neighbor’s house and shot 26-year-old Jama Ismail within point-blank range in the Park Hill neighborhood in Louisville, Kentuccky.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear, but Russell has been charged with murder, first-degree wanton endangerment and having a handgun as a felon, authorities said.
According to authorities, there was a witness to the shooting.
Judge Sheila Collins read a report during Russell's court apperance, “[She] came to the location with a gun, which the defendant pointed at the victim’s head. Fired once, striking the victim in the middle of the forehead. A witness was sitting right next to the defendant at the time of the shooting and her life was in danger,” according to WAVE 3.
Using surveillance video, police said they identified Russell as the shooter.
Collins said during the arraignment that police know Russell well because of previous incidents and booking photos. As a repeat felon, she was not to own or possess a gun, WAVE 3 reported.
Russell is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $100,000 bond and is due in court again on Sept. 30, officials said.
