Tennessee woman allegedly stole car from a grocery store parking lot with baby inside
A Tennessee woman has been charged with aggravated kidnapping one month after she allegedly stole a car that had a 1-year-old child inside, police said.
On Oct. 6, Brandi Rhodes, 33, is accused of taking the car from a Kroger parking lot in Nashville while the child’s parents were in the store grocery shopping.
When the couple came back outside, WSMV-TV reported, both the car and their child were gone.
Police recovered the vehicle and the child unharmed several hours later, according to the station, and police used surveillance video to identify Rhodes as the alleged car thief.
Rhodes faces charges of aggravated burglary, felony theft, and joyriding.
The child’s parents, Ruhumuriza Mukunzi, 29, and 26-year-old Nyirankumi Nyirankumi were also charged in connection to the incident with child endangerment.
