A Las Vegas woman has been arrested after police say she committed an unprovoked attack on a couple walking down the sidewalk, killing one of the victims.
Around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 8, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they received a report of an injured person.
At the scene, officers said they found a man and woman suffering from blunt force trauma.
The ma was taken to UMC Trauma in critical condition and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The Clark County Coroner identified the female victim as 42-year-old Machika Goodjoint, but the man has not been identified yet, 8 News Now reported.
Police say 47-year-old Vanessa Harvey was found in the area and they identified her as the suspect. She was taken into custody without incident.
An investigation into the incident showed the victims were walking together down the sidewalk when they were approached by Harvey, officials said.
All of a sudden, Harvey then violently attacked the couple, unprovoked, with a blunt object, police said.
Harvey has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with open murder and attempted murder, police said.
