Little League Coach Tossed From Baseball Game Punches 72-Year-old Ump In The Face, Officials Say

A coach’s anger with a 72-year-old Little League umpire grew so large that he assaulted the ump, fracturing his jaw, according to prosecutors.
Around 8 p.m. on June 4, police in Branchburg Township, New Jersey, responded to a park for a report a umpire who was assaulted, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
When police arrived, witnesses said the suspect left the area.

Officers spoke with the 72-year-old ump who was bleeding, according to prosecutors. The victim said he was umpiring the game and ejected a coach, later identified as Jerry Otero.
The suspect punched the ump in the left side of his face and the victim suffered a fractured jaw and a concussion, according to prosecutors.
On June 21, Otero turned himself into police. He was charged with third-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree assault at a youth sports event.
