During interviews, police said the foster parents gave multiple inconsistent stories about what had happened to the baby. But, officials have not said how the child sustained the injuries.

An autopsy was done on the baby and it determined the cause of death to be homicide, authorities said.

Ruben Morgan, 51, and his wife, Teresita Morgan, 48, had been fostering the victim since July. The baby and her twin were born on April 16, 2020, WAFB said.

The Morgans have both been booked into the Iberville Parish Jail and charged with second-degree murder, police said.

The investigation into the death of this child is ongoing, officials said.
