Two parents face murder charges after beating child to death who would not stop crying: report

Two parents are accused of causing injuries to their 8-month-old child because he would not stop crying, according to police.

La’Dre Doucette, 28, and Mary Williams, 30, were charged with first-degree murder in connection to the case. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office announced the charges this week, according to WBRZ.

Deputies were called to the couple’s home on Feb. 21 after an 8-month-old boy was unresponsive, according to WBRZ. The child was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Deputies said the couple left the home hours after the child’s death and were later arrested at another location.

An autopsy showed the child had trauma to his spine, torso and back of his head. He also had fractured ribs and punctured lungs, according to the report.

Williams said Doucette punched the son at least eight different times because the child would not stop crying. Williams added she didn’t stop the abuse because she was afraid of Doucette, according to WBRZ.
