A dispute over a love triangle in Louisiana ended with a 12-year-old girl being shot dead and two people behind bars, according to authorities.
Around 6 p.m. on May 13, officers from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said gunfire took place at a residence in Central, WAFB reported.
Officials said a woman drove to 36-year-old Patrick Johnson’s house with three children in her car – a teenage boy, a teenage girl and then 12-year-old girl, The Advocate reported.
Police said the three children went up to the house and knocked on the door before returning to the car.
That is when police said 26-year-old Ester Williams came out of the house and fired one bullet at the car, WAFB reported. That bullet hit the 12-year-old, whose name has not been released.
According to witnesses, Williams dropped the gun after allegedly firing the shot and Johnson picked it up. The two then went back inside the house briefly before coming back out and fleeing the scene in a pickup truck, The Advocate reported.
Williams and Johnson were taken into custody during a traffic stop the same day, officials said.
Williams told police that she and the other woman were both dating Johnson and they had previous disagreements about him, WAFB reported.
