A Louisiana man used candy to lure a child into his vehicle and police say he then took them to his home and raped them.
On June 4, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said they received a complaint relating to a possible kidnapping. Deputies responded to the complaint and reported the child was believed to have been a victim of sex crimes, officials said.
An investigation began and authorities said the child was lured by the suspect, Richard Paul Allemond, Jr., 32, to his residence with a promise of providing candy to them.
Police said once the child arrived at the suspect’s home, Allemond committed multiple sex crimes on the victim.
Deputies did not release the age of the victim.
Detectives secured search warrants for addresses related to the suspect, but officials said they can’t discuss any items seized during a search warrant.
Allemond was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility and has been charged with first-degree rape, indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
He remains in jail with bond set at $500,000.
