A woman is accused of killing her mom who was trying to stop her from leaving: report
A woman is accused of killing her mother during a dispute amongst a family, police said.
This week, the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana announced the arrest of Savannah Lawrence, 22, on a charge of manslaughter. She was booked into jail and was being held without bond.
On Feb. 1, deputies responded to a home in Iowa, Louisiana, for a reported battery.
Deputies spoke with a woman who had a fight with her granddaughter —Lawrence — earlier in the day. The disagreement was over Lawrence moving her belongings out of the home. The fight continued throughout the day, the sheriff’s office noted.
The grandmother told deputies she was worried about her daughter, April Springs, who had come home from work and was arguing with her daughter, Lawrence, as well.
The grandmother also told deputies Lawrence and her husband took Springs to the hospital and there was a large amount of blood in the road, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police went to the hospital where Spring was admitted with severe injuries. Springs later died at the hospital.
Investigators said Lawrence wanted to leave the home in a car and Springs was fatally injured trying to stop Lawrence from leaving. Physicians said Springs had a severe head injury and scrapes on her body, the sheriff’s office noted.
