A fight between old roommates in Louisiana left a 72-year-old man dead and another man charged with manslaughter, police say.
On Dec. 4, officers responded to a report of a battery taking place in Shreveport, Louisiana, according to authorities.
At the scene, officials said they found 72-year-old Namon Booker unconscious in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital with what was described as life-threatening injuries, KEEL reported.
Investigators said 39-year-old Montrail Horton allegedly approached the man and punched him in the face at least one time, which caused Booker to fall and hit his head on the concrete.
That fall resulted in major head trauma, police said.
Authorities also determined that the two men previously lived together and there was an ongoing conflict between them.
The investigation led to the arrest of Horton, who was booked into the Shreveport City Jail and later taken to the Caddo Correctional Center. He was charged with second-degree battery.
On Dec. 18, detectives said they were notified that Booker died from the injuries he sustained in the Dec. 4 attack.
Because of Booker’s death, the charges against Horton were upgraded to manslaughter and no bond was set, officials said.
